We thoroughly enjoyed this hiking tour along the Li River – through a peaceful countryside setting, with farmers working on their citrus plantations, the delicate aroma of jasmine flowers in the air, against the otherworldly backdrop of Guilin area’s amazing karst peaks.
Our guide Peter, a local from the Guilin area, was able to answer all our questions in perfect English, but was thankfully not overly chatty as we have found some other guides to be, instead allowing us to enjoy this unforgettable time together as a family. After several hours hiking, with a few stops along the way to buy fruit from local farmer kids along the way, we were treated to a delicious lunch in the quaint little 600 year old (but recently restored) village of Xingping, again glad to have Peter’s expertise in knowing what to order – the eggplant – you MUST try the eggplant!!
Thank you Hike Guilin, this has been our family’s favourite adventure in China thus far, highly recommend to all! Oh – should also mention, we insisted on there being a child safety seat in the van for our 5 year old, and one was provided (in good, clean condition) and as safety is a priority for us, due to there having been a lot of rain in the days leading up to our hike (fortunately for us, none on the day of our hike), Peter amended the route we were to take to cater to our safety focus. He also provided waters and snacks for us and the van was comfortable, with air-conditioning, and neither Peter nor the driver smoked which we appreciated very much! 10 out of 10 from us!
